Lynn van Heijst is the songwriter behind the project HYST. She makes dreamy Dutch-language pop music. Lynn's vulnerable voice and the soft sounds of the piano juxtaposed against the sometimes solid beats and synth sounds form a contrasting whole. The common thread in the music is intimacy that builds to more layered instruments and epic bridges. Lynn's lyrics, in which recognisable self-reflection and impermanence are important themes, are sometimes confrontational, but golden and touching.
