Swing dance is a collection of dance styles that originated in the 1920-'40s, with energetic steps and driving rhythms. To accompany the dancers, de Doelen has arranged for a band that will play live Swing music this evening. Swing music is a style within Jazz, which flourished in the late 1920s and early 1930s in the United States. Especially starting in the mid-1930s, it became hugely popular among the population and was used as an outlet through dancing together to the often relatively fast and swinging beats.
