This group exhibition highlights female visual artists from Rotterdam and raises awareness about their position and visibility in the art world. Despite growing awareness, various studies show that female artists in the Netherlands are still less visible than their male counterparts.
Through an open call, all artists who identify as women and are registered with the Centrum Beeldende Kunst (CBK) Rotterdam were given the opportunity to present their work. Through self-portraits, the artists literally give themselves a face, making a powerful collective statement.
The exhibition is an initiative of about A woman and is made possible with the support of CBK. A catalog of the works in this exhibition will be published.
