In this podcast series, Rotterdam makers talk about their favorite music. And where does their musical inspiration come from? Music, a perfect entrance to get to know someone better. Because what says more about someone than what music he or she selects?
Program maker Babs Assink asks questions like “What was the first record you bought? Which song do you play when you're sad or have something to celebrate? What is your best memory of a live concert and where was it? And what is your ultimate love song?”.
episode 1: Candy Dulfer
Saxophonist Candy Dulfer, who shone in November at the birthday of beloved Jules Deelder, in the Grote Zaal of the Doelen, is the first guest in the podcast. About singing along to the Beatles in the car, father Hans Dulfer who honked during all the television programs, her quarrel and close friendship with legend Prince, and her all-encompassing love for music. And of course also what mom always sang to her!
episode 2: Ntjam Rosie
Ntjam Rosie, Cameroonian-Dutch jazz singer, grew up in her native Cameroon. After that, she emigrated to the Netherlands, where she went to live in Rotterdam. Ntjam talks about growing up with stories and singing, her musical inspiration Erykah Badu.

A beautiful podcast episode with Maria Mendes. The Portuguese singer, who has been living in the Netherlands for years, crosses genre boundaries by mixing fado, jazz and a touch of bossa nova. From a young age, Mendes and her mother went to concerts every weekend and before tucking in they sang Edelweiss together.

The Rotterdam urban/hip-hop stylist and creative director tells us about her collaborations with Ronnie Flex and what it was like to have Cor Vaandrager as a father. Isis grew up with soul and was the designated DJ at parties and events as a child.

Meryem Slimani; art blogger, art director and, in her own words: personal oversharer. She takes pictures of her mother in the most creative outfits on her balcony every week. Meryem shares her ambitions, childhood traumas and love for her family with us.
episode 9: Wendy Teixeira
Wendy from Cape Verde is a singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. Her love for music originated in church. This love for music also translates into her work, as a nurse she sings for her patients.
episode 10: Gita Buhari
Gita is a Rotterdam singer of Ghanaian and Dutch descent. She tells us about her search for her identity, racism and her sources of inspiration for, among other things, her single that was released on May 8, 2020.
episode 11: Lisa Lukaszczyk
Singer and composer Lisa tells us about her love for music and how it came about. She also talks about the impact this special time has on her and the effect it has on her music.⠀
