We often turn our heads to Bach for the great masterpieces of the Baroque, but let’s not forget about Vivaldi. His Gloria is compact but has it all – from superhuman, majestic euphoria and elusive mystery, to the most down-to-earth of human emotions. Bach cantates, Carrissimi, and Händel lead this program towards Vivaldi.
The rapidly rising PRJCT Amsterdam is a young Baroque ensemble lead by countertenor Maarten Engeltjes. Soprano Elisabeth Hetherington is also making a name for herself, playing both Baroque and contemporary music at de Doelen this season. PRJCT Amsterdam played at de Doelen before, together with Andreas Scholl.
