Asian Spoken Word Night

celebrate Lunar New Year in de Doelen
  • Fri 16 Feb ’24
    20:00 - 23:30
Studio 5 de Doelen Kids Corner

De Doelen Studio and SPACE, the youth department of Dona Daria, join forces to provide a platform for spoken word and poetry performers with (shared) Asian roots. The central theme for this first edition is Lunar New Year. In many Asian cultures, the new year is celebrated based on the lunar calendar. In Rotterdam, we will be celebrating Lunar New Year from February 10th to 18th this year.

SPACE's Young Asian Leaders Community consists of young people with an Asian background who form a community where there is space to discuss shared experiences. They also share these experiences with others through training, events, and knowledge transfer. The Asian Spoken Word Night is a creative expression of this.

The lineup, curated by Unwanted Words, includes host and performer Jowi (@mojowi), and performers Elena Sichrovsky and Kevin Groen (Ahn Kwang Soo). There is also room for an open mic. You can sign up for this on the spot.
