PRJCT Amsterdam gives a personal touch to Pergolesi’s famous and devastating Stabat. P.F. Thomèse will read from his book Schaduwkind, which, like the Stabat Mater, is about the loss of a child.

Like an overture, Vivaldi's pieces sound like fate and doom. That sets the tone for Pergolesi, who based on the Stabat Mater text made a human tragedy rather than a glorification of the divine: 'the deeply grieved mother, stood weeping by the cross, while her son hung there.' Schaduwkind by P.F. Thomèse is exactly about that loss of a child - his own daughter. Thomèse recites several passages from his book.

photo exhibition NEIGHBOURS

Have you seen the NEIGHBOURS exhibition? In the foyer of the Great Hall you can see beautiful portraits of local residents - poor, rich, hip, young and old. A nice mix of tradition and modernity. Definitely worth a visit before or after the concert!
