For this expo, Kunstuitleen Rotterdam will be guests at de Doelen Art to celebrate its 50th anniversary. In 1975 the Artotheek Rijnmond Foundation was established in Delfshaven on the initiative of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK). The desire was to rotate art among the population at an affordable price. From 1982 the Artotheek was part of the then municipal Center for Visual Arts on the Nieuwe Binnenweg. Since then renamed Kunstuitleen Rotterdam, it came to stand on its own in 2017 on Goudsesingel.

Hundreds of Rotterdam residents and businesses rent art from the Kunstuitleen's extraordinary collection, which many say is one of the best in the Netherlands. The choice is almost endless, Rotterdam artists, silkscreens, photography, pop art, abstract, lyrical paintings - you name it. And all at an affordable price! On Kunstuitleen Rotterdam's website, for example, borrowers Benjamin and Denise talk about their empty walls and the art voucher they received as a gift. “That's the beauty of renting art: we really don't have the money to buy top pieces by artists like Hans Wilschut yet, but we have it hanging nicely on the wall now!”

Programming in de Doelen Art is made possible in part by CBK Rotterdam. Come by and get inspired!
