Passion, tenderness, longing: there are many words to describe love. But when music expresses that love, your heart is truly touched.

Dvořák's My Home and Smetana's My Homeland are mainly about love for the Czech Republic. You hear cheerful folk songs, you follow the Vltava River on its journey through the rugged landscape and sympathize with a fiery Bohemian who rebels against the power of men.

Dvořák's cello concerto also describes love, but here you especially feel the deep sadness for a lost loved one. The soloist in this wonderful concert is none other than Quirine Viersen. About her own playing she says: “When I make music, I always do it on an emotional level. This works most powerfully when the music comes from the depths of my being.” It is truly an experience to hear Quirine play Dvořák's cello concerto!

Rijnmond Symphony Orchestra consists of approximately 70 advanced amateur and professionally trained musicians. SOR is led by the charismatic young conductor Alejandro Cantalapiedra. With his drive and unique vision, he turns every concert into a party. Alejandro is having a great career; he is currently assistant conductor at the Dutch Opera.
