Multiple Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Kurt Ellling is considered “the standout male vocalist of our time. Together with the renowned Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, he will present a heartwarming concert with a nod to Christmas. Expect swinging Christmas classics and the most beautiful songs from Kurt Elling's oeuvre to usher in the holidays!

Chicago-born singer Kurt Elling is also known as “Sinatra with superpowers” and is known for his full and rich voice. Elling is a standard-bearer of contemporary vocal jazz and has single-handedly pushed the boundaries of the genre. The singer is acclaimed for his virtuosity, wide vocal range & soulful performances.

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw consists of world-class Dutch jazz musicians and ranks among the top in Europe. The big band has won several Edison Awards and collaborates with contemporary (jazz) musicians from all over the world. Traditionally, the big band gives a series of festive end-of-year concerts. During previous editions, the big band invited, among others, Jose James, Oleta Adams, James Carter and Jazzmeia Horn to usher in the holidays with them.

John Clayton
The orchestra will be accompanied by John Clayton as conductor - a living legend within the jazz world. This Grammy© winner, with no less than nine nominations to his name, is known for his exceptional musicality and versatility. He has worked with icons such as Milt Jackson, Diana Krall, Paul McCartney, Regina Carter, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gladys Knight, Queen Latifah, McCoy Tyner, Yo-Yo Ma and Charles Aznavour - to name but a few. A master on double bass as well as on stage as conductor, who will give this concert an extra glow and grandeur.
