City organist Adriaan Hoek presents a programme in which Bach’s timeless structures resonate through both his music and the visual arts. At the heart of the concert lies Musikalisches Opfer—a masterpiece of counterpoint and musical riddles that showcases Bach’s compositional ingenuity at its finest.

Complementing the music is a special AI-driven visual design, in which the abstract and rhythmic lines of painter Paul Klee enter into a contemporary dialogue with Bach’s sound world.

Adriaan Hoek
Hoek is the City Organist of Rotterdam and a sought-after concert performer with a repertoire spanning from medieval to contemporary works. He graduated with distinction from the Rotterdam Conservatory and continued his studies in Hamburg and Ghent. Hoek is the recipient of multiple international organ awards and is principal player of the Flentrop organ at de Doelen.

Paul Klee
Paul Klee (1879–1940) was a Swiss-German artist known for his playful, imaginative style that blends color, line, and abstraction. Influenced by expressionism, cubism, and surrealism, his work hovers between the abstract and the figurative. A teacher at the Bauhaus, Klee remains one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
