Star cellist Alisa Weilerstein

World-renowned cellist Alisa Weilerstein brings an innovative and immersive concert experience to Rotterdam. In Fragments, she weaves together the timeless cello suites by Bach with brand-new works by contemporary composers, all carefully brought together in a striking light design. 

Each fragment forms a chapter within a larger whole, where old and new, structure and intuition meet. Wonder – the first part of this six-part series – will have its European premiere this season at de Doelen. 

With Fragments, Weilerstein challenges the conventions of the traditional recital. She invites the audience to listen in a new way: without a program, without a fixed order, but fully open to what the music has to say in the moment.
