In 2021, the inspirer of Isbells - Gaëtan Vandewoude - began working with his regular band members on
the sixth Isbells album. The intention was that Gaëtan would later use these demos and ideas continue working in his studio. And although the creative start was incredibly promising, Gaëtan encountered a roadblock. Inspiration seemed to ebb away, and for the first time in his career, he felt something was missing.
During a candid conversation with band member and best friend Chantal Acda, he shared his concerns. And then something happened that changed the dynamics of the project: Gaëtan asked her to take on the role of producer. This would make it the first album where he himself was not the producer.
Acda brought a fresh vision and introduced new musicians and instruments, which led to a warm, acoustic sound. Under Acda's direction, the songs evolved in an organic way, resulting in a spontaneous and free album that the band members instinctively connects. 'And the noise settles,' the first Isbells album without Gaëtan as the producer, will be released on Jan. 17, 2025.
The magic of the recordings will come to life live with the regular Isbells band, consisting of Gianni Marzo, Gerd Van Mulders, Christophe Vandewoude and Chantal Acda.
Isbells' acoustic folk sound has repeatedly been compared to Nick Drake, Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver. The fragile voices, acoustic guitars, balanced horns, delicate percussion and electronic veil make for a solid and familiar set. Featuring Chantal Acda, Christophe Vandewoude, Gianni Marzo and Gerd Van Mulders collected
Gaëtan Vandewoude a strong group of musicians around him to shape his beautiful and fragile songs take shape.
Their 2009 self-titled debut has been labeled a classic and their live concerts are among the most refined and subtly intimate sets. Meanwhile, Isbells has amassed millions of streams accumulated on Spotify, culminating in the beautiful “Dreamer,” which is on its way to a whopping 80 million streams.
